Yesterday, we celebrated the 7th anniversary of a blog that was born out of feeling stuck, on the fence, alone, confused, and wanting to create a space for women to get inspired, get off the fence, grow, succeed and thrive. You have made that happen. I am grateful for this community who has stood by me in my darkest hours, my greatest triumphs, and given me a safe place to be authentic myself. You have also helped each other, and inspired each other into action. Never underestimate the power of a few simple words on a page.
I was wondering if this year was the 7 year itch– time to pack it up and pack it in, even as recently as this summer. And then I thought about all the things I still want to do, and teach, and share, and decided this blog must continue living. There’s still so much work to be done.
Maybe it’s 7 years blogging (which in real life, is like 70), maybe it’s turning 40 last year, but on a random night at 10 pm last week, all these emotions came out of me, and I brain dumped onto my personal Facebook page.
The words (which partly weren’t that cohesive considering after my 10 pm bedtime) seemed to really connect, so I wanted to share them with you today on our blogiversary.
Getting older has come to mean giving fewer fucks. Who knew that could lead to so much peace and liberation? 😉
Happy 7th blogiversary to us. In a world where we often meet phonies or insincere people, I honestly feel like you have become real friends. You are my people.
Happy Monday.
Oh Erica, I love you. For years you have provided a space that allows us to connect, to feel, to agree and even disagree. While sometimes I still feel “stuck” it’s nice to have a place to come(this blog and your social media accounts) that allows me to find not just a “personality” but a person. I enjoy the realness you bring and hope you’ll continue to share until it doesn’t feel real anymore!
About that getting older and giving zero fucks for a better life? Yes! Congrats on the 7 years. You amaze me.
