It’s no secret that I have followed the research of one incredible doctor over the years… Dr. Susan Love. In fact, for Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October 2009, I Blogged about Dr. Susan Love and her Army of Women . Unfortunately, breast cancer is a disease that hits very close to home for me.
What Dr. Love has done this year, is called out to all Bloggers and women everywhere to join her in her fight against breast cancer. She’s asking us to take the pledge:
We invite you to use your voice through your blog to spread the word about the Love/Avon Army of Women. The Army of Women initiative, a program of the Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation, funded by a grant from the Avon Foundation for Women, is recruiting ONE MILLION WOMEN of all ages and ethnicities, with or without breast cancer, to sign up and participate in breast cancer research studies. If we can get ONE MILLION WOMEN involved in research, we are one step closer to understanding the cause of breast cancer and how to prevent it.
The Army of Women campaign is an online initiative, where women can sign up at www.ArmyOfWomen.org. The members are then contacted via E-blast to participate in groundbreaking, breast cancer prevention research studies. They can either sign-up for the studies online, or if they do not qualify, they are encouraged to forward the information to a friend or family member. Every woman over 18 is welcome to participate, whether a breast cancer survivor or someone never affected. In many breast cancer research studies, recruiting women is the biggest obstacle, and our innovative program is working to virtually eliminate this hurdle.
We have over 335,000 women already signed up, and are still eager to reach our goal of ONE MILLION women. This is where you come in. We need YOU to take the pledge. If you are looking to support a cause that you believe in, get behind our organization by pledging to join Army of Women’s Blog for Your Breasts Day.
We are dedicating ONE day to reach ONE million women to sign up for the Army of Women. We are declaring October 1, 2010 the official Army of Women Day. We beseech all bloggers to blog about the Army of Women and empower women to take the next step by signing up and taking part in breast cancer research studies. Together, we can move breast cancer beyond a cure and eradicate it once and for all.
Let’s all do our part. Sign up. We all know someone who has been affected by breast cancer, so let’s wage war against this awful disease. Friday, October 1st, kicks off Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I encourage you all to get off the fence and do your part. I know I will.

Please spread the word: SIGN UP! Let’s all do our part to help eradicate breast cancer.
Dr Susan Love’s website is unbelievable. I will sign to help eradicate breast cancer. I love her goal: 1 million women. I hope we kick this disease in the ass.
I signed up. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Dr Love’s work seems tireless. Glad to support her.
Thank you for signing up. Let’s try and help Dr. Love reach her goal of 1,000,000 women fighting the war against breast cancer.
Great idea.
I went to armyofwomen.org – very impressive site and impressive woman, Susan Love. Thank you for sharing.
I am 64 years old and was diagnosed with breast cancer when I was 49. I had 2 surgeries, about a month and a half of radiation and almost a full year of chemotherapy. I have a very supportive husband, three grown children and 5 grandchildren. I have one true friend who also helped me through it all. It seemed that when I received the “news”, I became some other person who for the life of her couldn’t wrap herself around the words “you have breast cancer”. You mean me????After the initial few days, I decided to pull myself up by my bootstraps and just let it roll. At that time my husband and I had our own business and I decided I was going to continue working and I didn’t care how I felt or how bad I looked. Anyone who asked me what was wrong really got an earful. But I decided that sharing all my information with just about anyone, was my way of dealing with it. And it worked. Last Christmas, 2009, my gift to everyone was telling them that I was done with all cancer meds and my oncologist didn’t want to see me for a year. Ho Ho Ho and a Merry Christmas to all. We have to all do whatever it takes to end this disease.
Colette thank you for your words. We all deal differently, no doubt. My tendency is to seek support, like yours. I’m not good with bottling up my feelings… OBVIOUSLY. 🙂 So happy for you being done with all your meds! Have another ho ho ho Merry Christmas this year!

Dr. Susan Love will be one of the last people I’d turn to for “cancer advise”. Because she once said,”We don’t know what causes breast cancer, and the majority of the risk factors that we know about do not explain it.” That’s HELP? Why are we listening to people who don’t know what they’re talking about?
I happened to find out your post by accident in Google.Where by did you got all the information from? I mean WOW, you got rocking information for your article. I like it really educational.
