22 Life Lessons and Tips for Living

Today is April Fool’s Day, so Happy April Fool’s to you! Today is also my father’s 65th birthday. On this joke of a day, it’s no joke that I am who I am, in large part because of him.

I posted about my dad once before on Father’s Day. But today, I’m reposting that post for my new readers.

For those readers who actually know my dad, know he’s a man you instantly fall in love with. He is a man of his word, a man with a kind spirit, and a true inspiration to me. This is not to sound cocky, but there is nowhere that I don’t go, where I don’t hear, “You’re so-and-so’s daughter? Your dad is such a great guy, ” or “I love him. What a warm and genuine person.” Lucky me.

Fifty Shades of Grey: “Mommy Porn” Taking The World By Storm

Alright, if you haven’t yet heard about the book Fifty Shades of Grey, you just might be in the minority. Fifty Shades of Grey is a new novel to not yet hit bookstores. Yes, you can only buy this erotic novel, frequently described at “mommy porn,” if you own an iPad, Kindle, Kobo, Nook, e-reader. It is supposed to be coming out in hard copy in April.

EXCLUSIVE: Erica Diamond DOVE Ambassador: Win a Trip to Canyon Ranch Resort, Arizona with Erica!

I have been waiting to share some great news with you. And it’s great because, it involves YOU, my fabulous readers!

You know that working with Brands is a big part of what I do. And when I align myself with one, it has to be the perfect fit. I have to share the vision. I have to believe in the vision. Otherwise, I won’t put my name behind it.

But today, I am proud to announce my alliance with Dove® on their “Nourish Your Mind, Body and Soul Campaign” and I am inviting you to come along with me to Canyon Ranch!!!! Yes you heard right! Canyon Ranch ladies. End of May. Arizona.

Why I jumped at the chance to work with Dove, is their message to women. Dove® is committed to helping all women realize their personal beauty potential. Dove® believes that beauty should be for everyone, and that every woman deserves to look and feel her very best. When I first saw their self-esteem campaign, I knew I wanted to work with them. Watch this.

Avoiding The “Incompetent Princess Syndrome”

I was living the dream: a six-figure income, beach vacations, plenty of time off to cultivate my hobbies, and a growing savings account, all before I was 25.

And then we got divorced, and I woke up to the fact that half of us had no job security, no career trajectory, no savings, and basically no idea. Yes, you guessed it. My half. I had never so much as opened a bank account by myself.

Work/Life IMbalance – “Help I’m Frazzled!”

On a perfect day, the kids are well behaved, we breeze through homework, my husband comes home happy from the war office, I book another speaking engagement and sponsorship, everyone’s healthy, the sun is shining, and we’re feelin’ groovy.

Happens everyday.

YAH OKAY!!! WHATEVER! Hasn’t happened once.

Sara Blakely: My Confession

Sara Blakely, founder of Spanx, was just named the youngest self-made billionaire . Yes, SELF-MADE BILLIONAIRE. No trust fund. No rich husband. All on her own. Unfrikkinreal.

HERE’S MY CONFESSION TO YOU LADIES:

When I see Sara Blakely, I am triggered.

Our lives are parallel – up until the Billion Dollar List part of course!

Overcoming Addiction: A Work Still in Progress.

I’m going to start by saying my name is Charity and I am an alcoholic. A recovering one that is. I have been sober since August 24th, 2010.
For the sake of this blog, I will summarize my story the best way I can. I will not go into too much of my early life and the things that happened, that made me who I am today. I have very few memories of my childhood. I was molested from the age of 3 to 5, though I have blocked out most of the memories. I also have a big blank spot from ages 6 to 10. My mom had many boyfriends, so I think more happened than I am able to recall.

Erica Diamond Interviews Craig Newmark. Yah, THAT Craig- Founder of craigslist

If you follow this blog, you know that I go after what I want. With RELENTLESS DETEMINATION. There is an interview I have wanted for some time. Yes, Craig. THE Craig, founder of craigslist (who nicely corrected my spelling of CraigsList, explaining it should be written in all lower-case). The way he spells craigslist and his newest initiative, craigconnects.org, is just so very Craig- understated, modest, simple. When I interviewed him, and I kept challenging him for more MEAT, more stories, more guts, for all my women who love details. But I learned something from Craig. Sometimes, less is more. He’s concise, and precise. But that doesn’t mean he isn’t all heart. Cuz he is. When I blamed my demand for more ‘meat’ on the battle of the sexes… that women are ‘oversharers’ and men are ‘undersharers,’ he told me, “that’s all I got.” So, in the words of my uncle who always tells his daughters to “land the plane” when they go off on a tangent, enjoy this simple, but powerful interview from a remarkable entrepreneur and do-gooder in this universe, Craig Newmark.

Wordless Wednesday: Is Red Meat Really Killing Us?

Unless you have been living under a rock, there is no doubt you have heard about this week’s published findings from a long-term study on red meat. Apparently red meat is going to kill us. Yup, I’m serious. The findings are quite frightening.

The headlines: “Red Meat Consumption Linked to Early Death”

See for yourself:

“A new study indicates that eating unprocessed red meat (hamburger, pork, roast beef, lamb) and processed meats (bacon, hot dogs, bologna, sausage) may increase a person’s risk of premature death and raise their risk of death from heart disease and cancer says the study’s lead author, An Pan of the Harvard School of Public Health.” (Montreal Gazette)

6 Tips to Spring Clean your LIFE

Whenever March 12th rolls around (my husband’s birthday), I know it’s time for me to take stock of my life. It’s always the time I start sweeping out the cobwebs; literally and figuratively. Winter’s snow melts away, and all the things you have been ignoring in your life, start to present themselves again. Aaah, I forgot about you! Spring is a great time to deal with these things head-on. And that’s not a bad thing– spring is about rebirth, renewal, regeneration.

Avoid burnout and reclaim your time, energy & balance!
