Setting Spring Intentions

Happy Spring Equinox. Much like our closets and drawers get cluttered and disorganized over time, so do our minds. Our cluttered spaces are often a representation of our cluttered minds. Setting intentions…

21 Ways To Spring Clean Your Mind, Body and Life

Whenever March rolls around (my husband’s birthday), and then into April (my birthday this weekend), I always know it’s time for me to take stock of my life. It’s the time I start sweeping out the cobwebs; literally and figuratively. Winter’s snow melts away, and all the things you have been ignoring in your life, start to present themselves again. Aaah, I forgot about you! Spring is a great time to deal with these things head-on.  And that’s not a bad thing– spring is about rebirth, renewal, regeneration.

If you’re like most of the population who have been walking around not living at your optimum, there’s no better time than now, springtime, to internally and externally cleanse and rejuvenate your mind, body and spirit. With the fast-paced society we live in, we even eat fast too – fast food, canned foods, processed foods. Why? It’s easy and quick. Why buy fresh corn on the cob and waste time boiling it, when you can just pop open a can of corn and serve it no time? Right? Wrong! And I will tell you, that although you may not see immediate results in treating your mind and body well, the long term results are astounding.

What dust-balls are lurking in the corner in your life?? Time to clean up, ladies!

The Shaping of a Woman on #InternationalWomensDay

Happy International Women’s Day! Happy #IWD2022!

Today, March 8th, marks the 111th anniversary of International Women’s Day, a day that honors the fight for our rights as women– to end hunger, end poverty, end domestic violence, fight for gender equality and rally around each other as women.

The shaping of a woman starts with you, and it starts with me. It starts with the encouraging messages we tell our daughters (and sons). It starts with planting seeds… many seeds over time. My parents planted those seeds in me, and I am forever grateful. They never told me I could be equal to a man – because there was no reason to be. I was told to keep my eye on the prize, go for what I want, and work hard to prove to myself that I could make something happen. Men didn’t matter – my goals were what mattered. “Always be the hardest working person in the room and go the extra mile no one else is willing to go,” my dad would tell me. “When they can’t outwork out, you become valuable, then you become invaluable, and that my sweetie, will become your real advantage.”

Change is Inevitable. Growth Is Optional.

Change… it’s the only constant.

We can fight it, we can try to avoid it, but change happens.

Change can be really hard. We as a people, are not by nature, adaptive to change. Why? Change means ‘new.’ Change involves the unknown. Change means breaking comfortable patterns. Change involves going outside our comfort zone. We can fight change, we can try to avoid it, but change happens. And while change can come as a huge relief if we’ve just moved past a bad chapter in our lives, change can also be very scary. It involves tremendous risk, and can really tickle our insecurities.

But here’s what’s true– you make the choice about how you’re going to respond to change. You hold the power. On this #MotivationMonday, understand that change welcomes in a wonderful sense of freedom.

Tory Burch’s quote above applies to business, true, but it also applies to marriage, parenting, or just LIFE. When we sit complacent on the fence paralyzed by fear of change, life will just pass us by.

The One To Love On Valentine’s Day

“The most important relationship in your life is the relationship you have with yourself. Because no matter what happens… you will ALWAYS be with yourself.” – Dianne Von Furstenberg

For today’s V Day blog post, I am not taking about love of your spouse, or partner, or kids. I am talking about love and acceptance of…  yourself.

I see it a lot in my coaching practice and in women around me. Women who occupy their time frenetically cooking for their kids, runnings for their partners, accomplishing in their jobs, doing, going, organizing chaos, loving and nurturing everyone around them. But at the core, I can see there is something missing. Something they are TRULY neglecting – themselves. And no amount of roses or surprise gifts from your partner on Valentine’s Day are going to rectify the issue.
