The Universe Is Looking Out for You—You Just Have to Trust It

Erica Diamond Quote ()

Have you ever found yourself wondering if the universe is working for you or against you? Maybe it was after a missed opportunity that stung, or during a season of struggle when nothing seemed to go right. If you’ve been there, you’re not alone. But today, I want to challenge that thinking. What if the universe is looking out for you, but you just need to trust the process?

Let me take you back to a moment when I was questioning everything. Many years ago, I wrestled with the opportunity that fell upon my lap– the offer to buy my company. At the time, I felt so unsure of my next steps. My company was my first baby- I had given birth to it before my first child. IT WAS MY FIRST CHILD. I wondered if I’d made the right decision to sell and walk away from a venture I’d poured my heart and soul into. Yet, looking back now, I see how what felt like a closed door led to something bigger and better. The universe was steering me toward my calling as a life coach, speaker, and advocate for self-care. I couldn’t see it then, but I was being guided.

Many spiritual traditions and modern thinkers echo this idea—that the Universe, God, or whatever you choose to call it, has a plan for us. As author and motivational speaker Gabrielle Bernstein puts it, “Obstacles are detours in the right direction.” This isn’t to dismiss the hardships we face, but to reframe them. Instead of asking, “Why is this happening to me?” ask, “What is this teaching me?”

Let’s talk science for a moment if this is feeling too woo for you, lol! Studies on optimism and mindset show that when we believe things are working out in our favor, we’re more likely to recognize opportunities and take action. Psychologists call this the self-fulfilling prophecy. When you trust the Universe, you essentially prime your brain to notice the breadcrumbs it’s leaving for you.

Still, trusting the Universe isn’t always easy. Nor does it always respond immediately. Recently, I worked with a client who was grappling with rejection. She’d been turned down for her dream job and was questioning her worth. I reminded her of this idea: Rejection is often redirection. Sure enough, a few months later, she landed an even better position—one that aligned perfectly with her passions and values. She called me that day and said, “I get it now. The universe was looking out for me all along.”

But let’s be real—trust doesn’t mean sitting back and waiting for life to happen. It means meeting the Universe halfway. This might look like taking risks, showing up for yourself, and being open to opportunities, even when they don’t come in the package you expected.

Here’s my challenge to you: Think about a time when something didn’t work out the way you hoped, but later turned out for the best. What did you learn? How did it shape you?

The next time life throws you a curveball, pause. Trust. And remind yourself that the universe is looking out for you. It might not make sense today, but one day, it just might.

And a final reminder– in life, there are moments when a leap of faith is all we have. When clarity eludes us and the struggle feels overwhelming, the only way forward is to trust in the unknown and step beyond our comfort zone. Even if the outcome isn’t what we envisioned, the courage to take that leap is a victory in itself. It’s a testament to your resilience and willingness to grow. And if one path doesn’t work out, trust that another will reveal itself—one that honors the risks you’ve taken and the person you’re becoming.

I’ll leave you where we started: The Universe is working for you, not against you. Trust the process, even when it feels messy. Sometimes, all we need is a little faith to find our way forward.

I’m sending you boundless love,
