This is my boy. He is good and sick. I am getting on a plane in 24 hours to fly to Saskatchewan for a keynote speaking engagement. It’s bad enough that I’m missing his parent teacher interviews for the first time ever (hubby is going without me). Now this. I feel like the worst mother on the planet leaving.
So, today, instead of providing strength to my community, I will be needing strength FROM my community.
Send hugs, coffee and a speedy recovery.
And wishes for no puke- I’m not good with the puke.
Signed,
Guilty Mom
Sending you hugs and wishes for speedy recovery. I hate the puke too! Sending you vodka too. 🙂
Feel better. Poor little guy. You’re a great mom so shake the guilt.
Sending speedy recovery your way. It’s never fun when they are sick.
You are an awesome mom, role model and an inspiration not only to your family and friends but to many people around the globe. Know that we all missed one or two parent teacher interviews along the way, so you are not alone. I send you positive energy and cyber hugs. May your day be puke-free. Travel safe..
Erica–Put away the guilt, dear girl, and know your child is so-o in good hands (and cute bedding, by the way.) As single parent to two girls ten years apart in age and widowed TWICE by the time I was 42 (I kid you not!), I was always juggling…juggling..juggling (with lots of missed balls.)
I went to lots of parent conferences alone and resented the Hell out of my situation, all the more in my kids older years as parents attended these as a couples night, while I walked the halls alone.
How wonderful your child has a father who will care for him while you are away. My ‘kids’ today? Both are smart, professional women doing very well, and they recognize the journey I made as single parent (well…somewhat.)
So, we made it through, after all…Your little guy will be just fine. It’s you who must corral the guilt as you give others your important guidance to find themselves, going forward…
I send a heart-felt hug…
This is why I started this blog in the first place – a destination where we can all connect and support each other. I feel the love and I send it right back to you. Motherhood is a tribe, and it does take a village. xoxo
The only good thing about kids’ illnesses is that they pass super fast! Guilt is a wasted emotion and will only make you sick. Trust me – he’ll never remember this – but will be inspired by your greatness. Stay strong! Hope he’s back to himself quicly! Xoxo
Oh vey…sending get well vibes to your little one and lots o vino to you. Don’t let the mommy guilt takeover…he will be fine with your wonderful support system that you have..
Here is my share of love and positive energy to you and a big hug and kiss to your little one. You are very blessed to have such a great support system so use it without any guilt whatsoever. Go Erica Go!
I have followed your blog since the beginning and know what a wonderful mommy you are. You are lucky to have good support so go to work and rest assured everything will be fine at home. Hope your guy gets better soon.
My husband has become Mr. Mom since he retired five years ago. Guilt is a regular presence in my world, but I had a few lousy dads (my mom was married and divorced 3 times) and my biggest wish for my children was to have a great one. Think of the men your children will become because their dad is as regular and permanent a figure in their life as their mom. I will take a little guilt now and again to know that my girls will choose a man that loved them as well as their father did, who will be an equal partner and support their dreams and my boys will be that kind of man themselves.
Your sons know you love them, they know their dad loves them equally, and they know dreams are important and worth making sacrifices for. There are no greater lessons.
Lia, what a beautiful comment. I so appreciate this. Thank you for your words of encouragement.
