Sitting in the cafe, workin’ on the dream. Second book.
Shaking.
Stay tuned…
Today I turn to you for your feedback, asking how you parent in these types of situations. Today, our topic is: how hard is too hard to push our kids? Where is the line between too tough, and not tough enough? (Insert word coddling, as my husband put it this morning, accusing me of not being tough enough).
As we light the first candle on the menorah tonight, the flickering Hanukkah lights are a reminder of the struggle, courage, and fragile triumphs of the Jewish people. May it serve as a reminder, that after darkness, always comes light. Wishing you love, light, peace, happiness, and a BRIGHT Hanukkah.
On a LIGHTer note, I told my son how incredible the Shrek candle was on the right, to which he replied, “Mom, it’s a cactus.”
Ugh. #BadMommyMoment
OMG, NOW THIS MAY BE A SLIGHT OVEREXAGGERATION, BUT IS THIS YOU? Is your cell phone always glued to you? Do you constantly check Twitter and Facebook on your free time… like…
#LeaveItIn2012 was trending on Twitter this week. I thought it was a fantastic hashtag– people talking about what they’re ready to leave behind in 2012. I saw cute answers such as, “Gangnam Style. Can’t wait to #LeaveItIn2012,” or “Chain letter emails. Please #LeaveItIn2012.” I saw answers like, “Hate and regret, I’m so ready to #LeaveItIn2012”
I’d love to know. What are YOU ready to #LeaveItIn2012?
While the widespread perception has always been that stress induces a vast array of health problems — everything from anxiety to fatigue — researchers from Penn State University say that it’s actually the way people react to potentially stressful situations that determines whether they will suffer adverse health effects in the future.
“Our research shows that how you react to what happens in your life today predicts your chronic health conditions and 10 years in the future, independent of your current health and your future stress,” said David Almeida, professor of human development and family studies at Penn State. “For example, if you have a lot of work to do today and you are really grumpy because of it, then you are more likely to suffer negative health consequences 10 years from now than someone who also has a lot of work to do today, but doesn’t let it bother her.” (Huffington Post)
My DVR is programmed to record 60 Minutes every Sunday night. Sundays at 7PM, it turns out, are never a good time to watch live, so it’s recorded to watch at a more convenient time.
Yesterday I was feeling a little sluggish, so I got into bed at 3pm for a little 30 minute break before carpool. I turned on 60 Minutes.
I was blown away. I urge you to watch this from start to finish. It will be 10 minutes of your time well spent.
Happy Monday! I figured many of you would be sluggish returning to the grind today after a long Thanksgiving weekend, so I wanted to keep things light. Today, we’re off the fence.
For some odd reason, I have been asked this question a lot lately. WHO IS ON MY FANTASY DINNER LIST?
It’s 2:03am on Saturday night and I’m wide-awake and completely unable to sleep. My mind keeps replaying the conversation earlier this evening my husband and I had with my six-year old son.
My son tonight admitted to us he was being bullied at school.
