I almost feel like this would be the name of a great blog. Yes, a blog about the musings of a beer drinking, ass-kicking hockey team– you know, HangoversAndHockey.com. But sadly, no. You’re still on WomenOnTheFence.com. It’s still the same me– the same go-getting, inspirational diva, just wrecked after a weekend of over-drinking and over-arena attending. But hey, what would life be like if you ONLY walked a straight line, right?
There’s a very old saying: “Every time a marriage takes place, a new world is created.”
In 2012, does this sound impossibly quaint? Does it sound naïvely romantic?
We all know about the odds for divorce today. We’ve seen how little the marriage vows can mean in the Kardashian Age. Indeed, a recent Pew Research poll shows that 39 percent of Americans now believe marriage is becoming “obsolete.” That’s up from 28 percent who felt that way in 1979.

This blackout started at 12:00 a.m. eastern time on Wednesday morning and will last until 12:00 a.m. eastern time on Thursday. Database giant Wikipedia went dark as a protest against proposed anti-piracy legislation in the United States called SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act).
In fact, if you go to Wikipedia.org right now and attempt to do a search, this is what you’ll find. Crazy wild.
I have been keeping this under wraps for some time until I was given the green light last Friday. People grow a lot when they are faced with their own mortality. I learned never to underestimate someone’s capacity for growth. Some changes were phenomenal.

I frequently mention my vision board on Twitter and Facebook, and many of you ask me about mine, as well as ask me how to make one. Now, I would post my vision board for you to see, except I’m kinda superstitious, and feel like my vision board is like a birthday wish. You know, you cover your eyes, make a birthday wish, and only if you tell no one, it will come true? Yeah, that’s kinda how I feel.
I can’t believe it’s the end of 2011. It seems like life is just whizzing by. I quote Ferris Bueller when I say, “Life moves pretty fast. You don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” But it’s true. In sitting here feeling introspective, I realize that life does move pretty quickly. If we don’t enjoy the moments, or have a little FUN every now and then, well, living becomes just existing, just functioning, and not truly living.
By the end of December, I have a feeling many of you feel this way. I know I do.
This is the time of year that I actually relax, and break from blogging for a couple of weeks. I spend quality time with my family, and they get all of me. No distractions, no deadlines, no stress. This year is no exception. In fact, I felt SO much like the baby above, that I decided to close shop early– today instead Friday. Yup, being your own boss rocks sometimes! 😉
