“You can have anything you want – if you want it badly enough. You can be anything you want to be, do anything you set out to accomplish if you hold to that desire with singleness of purpose.” –Abraham Lincoln
I’d like to dedicate today’s post to all mothers and their children. Today’s post came about as a result of my monthly girls’ dinner that I attended last night. As always, every month, we shoot the breeze over some good food and booze, and chat about everything from current events (Hello psycho Mel Gibson), to the development of our kids. Nine girls catching up is always… well… LOUD.
It was around the year 2001. I was flipping the TV channels in bed and accidentally stumbled upon a movie. I had always loved Dennis Quaid, so I was curious as to why I hadn’t seen this particular one. There you were. Your sweet face. The Parent Trap. How charming, and lovely, and beautiful, and sweet and innocent. I remember thinking, “Who is this girl? She’s such an incredible actress.”
300 pounds! 300 pounds! I looked at the scale and couldn’t believe the number staring back at me. How had this happened? How had I let myself go? I was in my early twenties, miserable, and weighing in at an unthinkable 300 pounds.

So, I figured today I’d lighten the mood around here. All the Blog posts I have been reading and writing lately have been a little heavy. But that’s just what life is… a series of movements, one happening at a time. With life’s challenges, or with your children graduating and trying to guide them in the good direction, or going off to camp, or trying to get through tough economic times, or getting unstuck in your life, or just trying to juggle it all, I am reserving today’s post to laugh and be silly. Cuz I think that many of us often take ourselves WAY too seriously, and well, today you won’t! I am guilty of it, we’re all guilty of it. Today I want to uncage the silliness in all of us. I’m declaring today, GET SILLY DAY!

Into an endless sea of opportunity!
I have a few questions for you:
* Do you wake up Monday morning and wish it were Friday already?
* Do you feel unsatisfied with your current job and wish you had more flexibility?
* Are you tired of getting a paycheck for doing something you hate?
* Are you at stay-at-home mom who is antsy to finally do something for herself?
* Are you a professional who is looking to change career paths entirely?
* Are you burning out in the corporate world?
* Have you ever thought of turning your hobby into a career?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, you just may be ready to get off the fence and START YOUR OWN BUSINESS.
The Power Couple… Chris Brown and Rihanna… Until that fateful day.
Then, 2 days ago, Chris Brown re-appears at the BET Awards (Black Entertainment Television Awards) after going away for over a year, with an incredible Michael Jackson Tribute.
The Jackson Family has obviously forgiven Chris Brown, and requested him for the tribute on the one-year anniversary of Michael Jackson’s death. He performed, then he broke down crying.
Sometimes I just feel so happy that I have a Blog. It’s become my little place I go when I’m feeling happy, sad, confused, angered, anxious and celebratory.
This morning I shipped two little boys off to camp. I know what you’re saying… “Day camp! Get over yourself, Mamma!” But really, I’m not over it. I’m totally still in it. And the flood gates haven’t shut off yet. If you’re a mom with a kid starting a first day of school, a first day of daycare, a first day of camp, or any place where you’re sending your child into the unknown, then I know you can relate. Unless you can’t, and that’s cool too. 😉
