Madonna, a global icon who extended her record as the highest-grossing female touring artist of all time in 2016 — was honored as Woman of the Year at Billboard’s Women In Music 2016 event on Friday (Dec. 9). And during her acceptance speech, she was fully ferocious, funny and brutally honest — in other words, she was the Madonna we’ve known and adored since she debuted more than 30 years ago.” – Billboard
This is a time of year where many of us become overwhelmed.
Overwhelmed by what’s still left to accomplish and preparing for family or extra holiday centric obligations. I’m sure many of you, like me, are also thinking about what we want to accomplish next year.
My Handel coach gives me an excellent exercise each year that helps me focus, and get clear on what I want, and it never gets old. Simply put, it’s called dreaming.
When you reach a certain point of comfortability in your relationship, it sure is nice. You don’t have to worry about impressing each other anymore, you’ve seen each other at your worst and still love each other, and you just really “know” each other on a deeper level.
But there is another side to this level of love. It means things tend to become less exciting. That’s normal of course, but just like your car needs tuning up to run at its best, so does your relationship. Always add a little spice to keep things interesting, and keep boredom at bay.
Fall and Winter is the perfect time to cozy up wth a big blanket, a warm cup of tea, and a great book.
On yesterday’s Global TV segment, I shared six great winter reads. I tried to suggest a little something for everyone – memoir, funny, thriller, autobiographies…
Here is the segment on some great fall and winter reads.
Happy #GivingTuesday, Ladies! In case you didn’t know, #GivingTuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving. Now back to today’s post.
I was perusing through Instagram yesterday, and I stumbled upon something that really spoke to me. My friend and fellow Montreal working mom, Maddy K shared the quote above, Don’t Let The World Define You, and then underneath, this text:
Talking to our kids about money can be daunting. Where do you start? How do you start? When do you start?
As a Certified Life Coach, and Weekly Parenting Correspondent on Global News, I care very deeply about parents, kids and the wellbeing of the family unit. I often speak about the importance of financial freedom for women, and the messaging that it is never too early (OR TOO LATE) to begin. The more you talk about money now, the more confident you will be in your financial future. And while money doesn’t buy happiness, financial freedom can mean things like an early retirement, a home for your family, and the flexibility to make choices for yourself.
Here are my five tips when it comes to talking to your kids about money:
Some parents make the first decisions about their child’s education before their child is even born! Daycare and elementary waiting lists, open-house visits, admission tests, and thoughts of getting into the “right university” often come into our minds.
Then, as your child grows and their learning profile develops, you may alter or shift your mindset for high school. As you navigate puberty and the moody teen years, thoughts about college applications seem far off while you navigate emotional outbursts, changing friendships, and curfews! But before you know it, you are in the throws of your teen’s existential crisis, hearing “What am I going to do for the rest of my life?!” after he/she fails a math test, and then the college application process begins with, “I am never going to get in to college!”
