Back To School with Khan Academy: The Power of Learning

With back to school upon us (for some), or around the corner (for others), today is about sharing information with parents and students. Or not…

Frankly, today is about sharing information with all mankind. This is the most powerful thing I have seen in a long time, and needed to share it with my readers. My girlfriend Corine told me I could use her name, as it is her who turned me onto Khan Academy.

An Ode To 11 Years Married

Tomorrow my husband and I will celebrate 11 years married. Sixteen years together, 11 years as husband and wife. I’m 36 years old, so that makes me 19 1/2 when I first passionately kissed my man on a park bench, one hot summer night (watching two lesbians make out).

So for my new readers, who were not readers last year on our 10th wedding anniversary, here is our story…

Making Your Passion Your Paycheck

As a child, I always loved stones, beads and all things that sparkled. I used to take my mother’s hippie turquoise jewelry apart, only to put it back together, re-worked into a much better design… at least in my opinion. Years later, when it came time to choose a career, I pursued a master’s degree in social work. My interest in jewelry hadn’t exactly diminished, but I saw it more as a hobby at that time. Certainly not something one could have as a career.

Tuesday’s Tune Up: Push Your Rock

I have to thank my good friend for forwarding this to me. It effected me quite deeply.

I follow Yehuda Berg (leader of The Kaballah Centre) on Twitter as I enjoy his tweets, but other than that, I have zero affiliation to any Kabbalist movement. In fact, depsite being a Jewish woman, there is little that I know about Kabbalah other than the fact that Madonna and Demi Moore are students.

Wordless Wednesday: Off The Fence in Maine

So my husband cannot believe I haven’t checked in while on vacation. “Don’t you want to write a post?” he asked me.

But the truth is, beside some Twitter and Facebook updates, I have been resting my fingertips. And my brain. And just enjoying my time with my family. I will never get these moments back, so I want to seize them.

We are at the beach in Maine. I have surrendered to my cottage cheese thighs, tons of ice creams and fries, wine daily, tons of New England clam chowder (my all time favorite) and lotsa lobster. I’m feeling fat and happy and free. And oh how good it feels!

Avoid burnout and reclaim your time, energy & balance!
