Relaxation Guilt

So, you know that expression, “I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead?” Yah well, it’s this expression that has pretty much sent me into overdrive. I look at my peers around me, and many of them live by this attitude. The husbands are A athletes, cyclists, skiers. The wives are tennis players, exercisers etc… (and so are their kids, by the way). They are from this mindset– I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead. They Go Go Go. Hard. They are in words of Charlie Sheen, Winning.

And then there’s me… I guess somewhere in the middle– an A player or flat out D player, on any given day.

Why Enchantment?

I recently had the pleasure of interviewing Guy Kawasaki, world-famous entrepreneur and author, who I have followed for some time, and admire. Why Guy Kawasaki on Women On The Fence you may ask? Because he has been a huge supporter of businesswomen and mompreneurs for years, and he has insight for us all.

In his new book, Guy discusses a concept that we can adopt in our everyday lives to be more successful… at home, at work, with our partners. That concept is… enchantment. Because the goal of this blog is to always push you off the fence and self improve, here is a concept which you may enjoy.

Are you married? Are you divorced? Chances are, if you are no longer married, you didn’t go into that union expecting to end up divorced. Wordless Wednesday

Pssst…. It’s me– Miss Slacker!

Took the morning, ‘tout pour moi, chez le spa’ for a welcomed change.

I’m now sitting alone, downtown, having lunch, at a cool place hubby suggested, Ipad, goat cheese & wild mushroom grilled panini with a yummy tomato purée soup.

In heaven.

“Me-time” is definitely underrated.

Gotta run!

International Women’s Day 100th Anniversary

Today is an amazing day for women around the world. Today is OUR day. The day where we make noise, where we fight for our rights as women– to end hunger, end poverty, end domestic violence, fight for gender equality and rally around each other as women. Today is the 100th anniversary of this kinda day.

In thinking how I would honor it, I had a few ideas. But in the end, the ordinary woman won. Today, at Women On The Fence, we are honoring ordinary women who have done extraordinary things.

Tough Love: Yay or Nay?

So here’s the “on the fence” question for this TGI Friday:

Do you shelter and protect, because these are our babies, and we want them to grow up with confidence and self esteem, in the bosom of those they love, and in turn perhaps risk doing them a disservice, or do you impose a sort of tough love, giving them the necessary tools to allow them to thrive and cope in the “real world?”

Charlie Sheen: My Side

Alright, I’m doing something today I rarely do… comment on tabloid gossip. A lot of you asked my opinion on Charlie Sheen’s recent antics. I watched pretty much all of it yesterday… The Today Show, Good Morning America, and The Piers Morgan interview last night. And here is where I differ with 90% of all of you out there. In my Facebook feed, I read things like, “Pompous, asshole, nutcase, arrogant, putz.” And see, I didn’t get that feeling AT ALL. You just had to watch his eyes. This man is obviously sick. Clearly ill. While I’m no Dr. Drew, I’m merely a psychology major and intuitive woman, and I know this may be a bold thing to say, but I have mental illness in my family, and it looked a lot like that.
