One of my most popular Blog posts and concepts that really took off over the past year, has been my Bucket List Blog. On February 19th, 2010 I urged you to make a list of your dreams– or simply a list of 25 things you want to do before you “kick the bucket.” The concept pushed many, including Brooke Burke to create her Bucket List which she spoke of on The Oprah Show, on her Blog, and in her upcoming book, The Naked Mom. Because of the power of the Bucket List, and with the approach of 2011, instead of making New Year’s resolutions this year, I wanted to encourage all my readers who haven’t yet done so to make their Bucket List. I’ve re-posted mine below, added a few updates in RED (’cause it’s almost been a year), and then, I’d love to see yours.
Hi ladies! I just got back from an hour walk in the minus 9 degree weather so I feel clear and refreshed. I’ve got a nice hot cup of coffee next to my laptop. It’s Friday, so that’s always nice. And the holidays are just around the corner. So all in all, life’s good.
But shit, this woman feels like she needs a time-out. And I know it, just from these few things I’ve done over the past 2 weeks. And the other not-so-good stuff below.
Holiday time for our family has always been a big deal. Many years ago when my children were small, (and I was still married), my ex-wife and I made great use of our holiday time. Instead of running south and contending with the hoards of irritated travelers, we stayed put… the ultimate ‘staycation.’ I can recall with great affection, hauling in our Christmas tree and setting the presents below, sitting by the fire and decorating ginger bread houses. I remember it like it was yesterday– Christmas morning, our little one’s running down the stairs, still in their pj’s, hair disheveled, smelly breath and smiles beaming across their faces as they opened their presents. I filmed several Christmases’ and took enough photos to assemble a great collection of what our family was like during these happy times. I love to recall these precious memories. That feeling of success in my heart, feeling so fortunate, and having my family all to myself, with no schedules, no school, no interference from outside sources.
Calling all MomPreneurs, Women In Business, Small Business Owners!!!
Tired of wondering where your next client or customer is going to come from—or staying up all night because this brilliant business idea of yours just won’t go away? Whether you’re sick of doing all you know to do to make your business profitable (and still coming up short) or just tired of WAITING to (finally) take the leap, you’ve got to meet Tory Johnson (www.toryjohnson.com).
I feel grateful your suffering is over. I feel sad for the pain you’ve endured. I hope you are at peace, wherever you are. Many are thinking of you at this moment. You were too young.
RIP, Elizabeth Edwards
I once heard on the news that everyone would eventually know someone with AIDS, because the disease was spreading so rapidly. In 1994 it would hit close to home.
I met my future husband in 1990 and three years later, I became pregnant with our first child. I developed high blood pressure and delivered Katie by C-Section on November 24, 1993. She was just 3 lbs 14 oz. As any unbiased mother would claim, Katie was adorable! She giggled and made happy noises but she often missed developmental milestones. She couldn’t hold her head up and by age six months, she was unable to roll over; I thought it was due to her being a preemie.
