Do You Have A Social Media Addiction?

OMG, NOW THIS MAY BE A SLIGHT OVEREXAGGERATION, BUT IS THIS YOU? Is your cell phone always glued to you? Do you constantly check Twitter and Facebook on your free time… like when you’re family is home at night and instead of playing with your kids or bonding with your partner, you’re futsing around on BBM (Blackberry Messenger), or IChat, or other social media sites? Is your Facebook account or emails the first thing you check when you wake up? Are you exhausted from staying up too late reading about all of your “friends’ ” status updates, whereabouts and pictures? Has your family asked you if you love your computer more than you love them?

A True Wordless Wednesday

Yes ladies, my first domesticated attempt in a while.

If you read my blog, you know I LOVE TO EAT, HATE TO COOK.

But I played “aproned mommy” and baked these Chanukah cookies.

My boys painted them.

Aren’t we SO Martha Stewart?

Wordless Wednesday: A Holiday Tipping Chart

This chart ran yesterday in The Globe And Mail. Someone at my gym snapped the photo for me and then emailed it. The article in the newspaper discussed just how costly this…

Flattery Gets You Everywhere

When was the last time you took the time to call your best friend, your aunt, your employee, your husband and tell them how much you appreciate them? Now I don’t mean to slip in an “I love you” at the end of a call after phoning them for another reason. I mean JUST to tell them how important they are in your life, to thank them, and tell them how great you think they are? I bet most of you cannot remember the last time. Yuck. Well that’s no good!

A Thanksgiving Reminder

When I awoke this morning, I wasn’t feeling connected to a particular topic for today. My thoughts were scattered. And then a Blackberry text message from a friend I haven’t spoken to in a while set off a light. I wished my husband’s friend a quick happy new year this morning and asked him how he was doing. His reply, “Happy New Year to you too. We are overdue to get together. Things are okay. They could definitely be better, but then again, I could be in Haiti.”

Los Angeles and Being Back On The Fence

I have been blogging a year. And what a year it has been. I started this blog with a vision, with a dream, for all women who were sitting on the fence in their lives, to have a hub, a place to connect, and learn, and laugh, and get inspired to jump off the fence. I can say the success has been beyond my wildest expectations.

Mad Money: Yay or Nay?

Did your mother ever tell you to keep some “mad money” around just in case? Mine did, and hers was in the bottom drawer, towards the back of her small jewelry box. Relatively speaking, it was not a lot of money. I believe it was anywhere between two and four hundred dollars, depending on the time of the year. But the important thing was that it was a secret from my dad. Even though she frequently dipped into this fund to buy the holiday and birthday gifts for my dad, she never told him it was there.

A Contest and Giving Back

Boston Pizza reached out to me with an amazing contest that incorporated giving and children’s charity, I couldn’t resist.

With the Christmas season fast approaching, many people have started to think about how they can make a difference in their communities. Boston Pizza is supporting Canadian charities with the launch a national fundraising initiative in support of Canadian families.

Wordless Wednesday

Ladies, I’m off ’till next week.

Co-Hosting an episode of a Mommy Show in L.A. and other exciting things.

I’ve never left my family this long and I’m feeling nervous and anxious.

And of course guilty.

I’ll try and check in on my spare time.

Wish me luck.

Laughing Through Life (Instead of Complaining)

We all have some form of stress in our lives. And whatever that stress may, whether it be the “real” kind… divorce, destruction, illness, death, or the “real-to-me” kind… I ate too much, my kids are driving me crazy, why do I have to help you with your homework, somebody shoot my mother-in-law… we all deal with it differently.
