International Day Of HAPPINESS!

Oh my goodness, the truth is, I wasn’t planning on blogging today, but after seeing this, I had to share. Today is International Day of Happiness, and watching this made me, well… HAPPY! And I know it will make you happy too.
Watch this cover of Pharrell’s hit HAPPY, sung by the Detroit Academy of Arts and Sciences choir. Let’s just hope these kids are the future of Detroit. I’m in love.

Wordless Wednesday: RIP L’Wren Scott

The devastating news of the death of L’Wren Scott has sent waves of shock and compassion through the worlds of fashion in New York and London. The loss of such a figure of grace, fun, and multidimensional talents seems incomprehensible. Always poised, always publicly reticent and privately considerate of her clients and friends, L’Wren was a self-made designer who was proud of building an independent business, which she kept scrupulously separate from her status as the girlfriend of Sir Mick Jagger. “I am doing this with my own money,” she said, on launching her own collection in 2006. “My life’s always been like that. It’s how I was raised.” – Vogue Magazine

Friendships in Our Thirties and Forties

A friend of mine forwarded me a recent article from the New York Times titled “Friends of a Certain Age.
Why Is It Hard to Make Friends Over 30?” The argument states that the period for making B.F.F.’s, the way you did in your teens or early 20s, is pretty much over. It’s time to resign yourself to “situational adult friends.”

Wordless Wednesday: A Tribute To 25 and 40

Lordy, lordy, look who’s 40 today! That would be my husband. A very suiting Wordless Wednesday to showcase this very special man on his special day.

And another Wordless Wednesday: Today is also the 25th birthday of the World Wide Web! Happy Birthday WWW dot!

#BanBossy? Great. But May I Also Add #BanBitchy

“When a little boy asserts himself, he’s called a “leader.” Yet when a little girl does the same, she risks being branded “bossy.” Words like bossy send a message: don’t raise your hand or speak up. By middle school, girls are less interested in leading than boys—a trend that continues into adulthood. Together we can encourage girls to lead. Pledge to Ban Bossy.” -BanBossy.com

I am SO excited to write about this today, and even more excited to get your feedback. The ever-inspiring rockstar Sheryl Sandberg just launched her latest baby – the Ban Bossy Movement (along with Girl Scouts of America). Sheryl, I applaud you. It’s a brilliant initiative. I have been a long-time supporter of yours as you can see here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/erica-diamond/leaping-in_b_2862847.html

Last Minute Getaways With @Aeroplan

Easter Break is just around the corner, and now is the perfect time to look into some last-minute getaways if you have been saving your money, and accumulating Aeroplan miles.

It’s no secret I have been a LOYAL member of the Aeroplan program, accumulating Aeroplan Miles as I have spent dollars, for almost 20 YEARS! It’s also no secret that I was honored to become a Brand Ambassador for Aeroplan in 2013 after having traveled to New York, Florida, Nassau, New Orleans, rented cars, stayed in hotels, bought electronics and MUCH MORE, all because of Aeroplan.

March 7-8, 2014: National Day of Unplugging

Yes, there is a day. It ‘s tomorrow. I wanted you all to know about it. I think it’s a fantastic initiative. Read on…

“Do you have multiple cell phones? Take your ipad to the beach on vacation? Ever find it hard to get through a conversation without posting an update to Facebook? Is your computer always on?

We increasingly miss out on the important moments of our lives as we pass the hours with our noses buried in our iPhones and BlackBerry’s, chronicling our every move through Facebook and Twitter and shielding ourselves from the outside world with the bubble of “silence” that our earphones create.

Resilience

Resilience is a story of hope, faith, belief, and triumph.

At one point in our lives, no matter who we are, or how much we have, the rug will get pulled out from underneath us.

Resilience is my story, spanning over 30 years. It is one filled with physical, emotional and spiritual challenges as well as one filled with laughter, peace and joy.
