I’m not sure if you’ve seen the new Old Spice commercial. There’s been lots of controversy over this new “Momsong” commercial. It has boys creeped out. It has moms laughing (but secretly identifying). I read a headline that went like this, “The new Momsong ad turns moms from ‘caring to creepy’.”

As I reflect back upon the past 5 Januaries, I realize that I have come back every New Year with a different attitude. One year, our first January post was called What If You’re Just Feeling Lazy and Unmotivated!. It went like this:

Well my lovely ladies, it’s almost that time of year again- Christmas, holiday season, Nat King Cole and reindeers. It’s also the time where I close up the blogging shop for two weeks. Yup, I do. I rest my kepi (that’s Hebrew for head), and come back rejoiced with fresh content in January.

I have been thinking about the homeless a lot lately. It has been freezing cold here in Montreal, and when this type of weather hits, my mind always wanders to those sleeping on the streets, to crowded shelters and to the injustices of life. It’s heartbreaking.
I decided I wanted to do something about it. I went through my closet this weekend, and put together a pile of about 6 old winter coats. My husband, my boys and I ran them downtown to give them out to those living on the streets without warm coats. I was basically just doing what I could…
