For those of us who live in a northern climate, we need only to look outside our windows to witness the season’s transformational energies. The chill in the night’s air, the reduced amount of daylight, and the colorful falling leaves indicate that the fall season is upon us.
With the start of the school year and all its demands, work-related stressors, football season get-togethers, Thanksgiving celebrations, Halloween treats, and the onset of the cold and flu season, healthy lifestyle choices can become quite a challenge.
Here are 5 self-care tips designed to help keep you well over the autumn months. Please keep in mind that change requires motivation, discipline, commitment and effort. It is important to ask yourself; Does this particular strategy feel natural and fit with my personality? Baby steps will allow you to sustain all the new changes in a few weeks from now. And just maybe on New Year’s Eve 2015 you won’t need to make resolutions and promises because, what better time than fall to create healthy habits for the upcoming holiday and winter season?
My name is Shawn Evans, and I am the co-owner Can’t We Just Get Along Counselling. We specialize in couples counselling, family therapy, affair recovery and other types of personal and family therapy. I produced this info-graphic outlining the truth about infidelity. The recent news of the Ashley Madison website hack encouraged me to research the real reasons behind infidelity.
The info-graphic outlines how many people cheat, why they cheat, and how couples can recover from infidelity. It was very interesting to discover that 56% of men and 34% of women who cheat rate their marriage as happy or very happy, which makes the reason people cheat a little harder to understand.
It is difficult to recover from infidelity, and there are certain steps that both the betrayed spouse and the unfaithful spouse need to take if they want to repair their relationship.
#ThrowbackThursday to #Blogher14. I just stumbled upon my the #TimelineProject photo I took last year. The Timeline Project was all about declaring your dreams and goals to the world (or just yourself), physically writing them down, and then keeping the photo visible to constantly stay motivated.
But sometimes we experience setbacks or slowdowns.
I’m 40 1/2 (not 39 3/4), and still haven’t launched yet. But it hasn’t stopped me from working and going and doing. I almost see the finish line (or shall I stay, the ‘starting from scratch’ line).
The point of today’s post? Don’t let setbacks throw you completely off course. Embrace the setback, honor the setback, and then get back on the horse and keep trucking. No one says you have to abandon your dreams just because your #TimelineProject is a little off.
On this morning’s weekly Global TV segment, I shared my favorites – quick, delicious, heathy and easy dinner recipes for families!!
I’ve also written them out for you below.
Postnuptial agreements – they’re all the rage!
Just kidding, no they’re not.
We’ve all heard of the prenup.
But what about the postnup?
Yes, that is what some lawyers are recommending for spouses who put their careers on hold to have their children.
Prenuptial agreements have become so common among the 1 percent they are considered practically a given. But postnuptial agreements, those negotiated after a marriage has already taken place, are still rarities and an object of curiosity for much of the population. According to experts, however, their popularity is growing. In a 2012 survey conducted by the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, 51 percent of divorce attorneys cited a rise in postnuptial agreements during the past three years. Perhaps an even more interesting number is the 36 percent of attorneys who noted an increase in wives initiating the requests.
The 9 to 5 lifestyle is slowly fading into oblivion. With the blurred lines of office hours at work, options like telecommuting and flexible work hours, doesn’t necessarily equate to shorter work days. Most American’s work days stretch from about 9 a.m. until whenever they get their work completed (which is well after 5 p.m.). People are hardly taking vacations anymore and quite often are making work decisions out of fear. Even millennials are worked to the point where the thought of starting families, or taking decent time off to rest their bodies and minds is ludicrous.
Fall is here, making it the perfect time to research a Thanksgiving long weekend getaway or Christmas vacation.
Enter Aeroplan!
For my regular readers, you know I have been a LOYAL member of the Aeroplan program, accumulating Aeroplan Miles as I have spent dollars, for almost 20 YEARS. I am also their proud Brand Ambassador, so it gives me great excitement to announce a few cool things today.
It used to be thought that Aeroplan Miles could only be used for flights, but no, no, no!
It’s funny what you remember from your childhood. Our earliest memories of events, interactions and people can stay with us and resonate for the rest of our lives.
It’s also cool how at the moment of conception, thousands of generations that preceded us, come together at that magical moment, and give us all the qualities and challenges we will have as individuals– our strengths, our weaknesses and perhaps even more importantly, our temperament.
There are those, even as infants, who will go willingly to anyone that wants to hold them. These babies have no fear of the unknown or strangers, and they willingly use every day as an excuse to explore the world.
Fall is in the air, which means the kids are back in school. If you’re a mom, that means more “me time.” More time to explore, reassess and figure out where you’re at, and where you’re headed. Perhaps this will be your season to become a mompreneur. As most of my readers know, fall will be my season of transition as well, as I transition into a new kind of entrepreneurship with the launch of Hadry next month.
