If Do What You Love, The Money Will Follow had been a Katy Perry song instead of a book, it would have been the anthem of the late 80s and early 90s. This advice didn’t stop there. On June 12, 2005, Steve Jobs, then CEO of Apple Computer and Pixar Animation Studios, delivered the commencement address at Stanford. Perhaps the most memorable quote from his address is:
“The only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle.” -Steve Jobs
It is with tremendous pride and excitement that I can share how honored I am to partner again with Lancôme. Having watched my mother take precious care of her beautiful peaches and cream skin my whole life with Lancôme products, Lancôme to me represented a strong woman, with true inner beauty.
I also vividly remember that lingering sensational smell that radiated from her face every time she came to kiss me goodnight.

I was working a sales job downtown that I absolutely hated, and I realized that I needed to start a career. So I got online and did some research and my roommate was like, ‘Hey, you’d make a great paralegal. You watch criminal justice shows all day long.’ So I looked into it, and I found out that Brightwood College did have a good program.

I sent my boys off on the bus this week to summer camp. And judging by this picture, I think someone is happy. And lucky.

You know how you thought that when you met the man of your dreams he would change?
And he did.
For the worst.
But you still held onto him because you believed that having anybody was better than having nobody. It was the power of your love that would realize his potential – if only he would just listen!
I, like you, a victim of abuse, believed that all I was worth was a man who beat me, punched me and cheated on me. I shrunk each time I heard, “First time a victim, second time a volunteer,” “If you go back you deserve what you get” and “Why don’t you just leave?”
Happy First Day of Summer! For many parents, these summer months are a time to loosen the screen-time reigns and let kids play Pokemon Go, Temple Run and Minecraft as long as they want. Others worry about the impact of too many hours spent on social media, games and videos, often at the cost of more nostalgic summer past times, real or imagined. (Did we all actually climb trees, build forts and pick blueberries?).
But how to manage screen time when you might not even be home to do it? And even if you are a stay-at-home parent, do you have the energy to fight the battle every hour of the day? It’s a challenge for many families, and one that’s generating a host of responses: One Washington D.C. area principal recently offered to pay incoming 8thand 9th graders $100 each if they went screen-free every Tuesday of summer vacation. Another mom recently locked her children’s devices into an offsite storage unit in her quest to experience some digital downtime.
I’m a sport dietitian and cycling Olympian with the Canadian Sport Centre in Calgary, where I consult several national teams. I was also the Performance Dietitian for the Canadian Olympic Committee and Team Canada at the London Summer Olympic Games. I was their main support during the games when it came to food selection and dietary needs.
Summer is the perfect time to take a break, lay out in the sunshine and get into a great book.

On this week’s Global TV segment, I shared eight great summer reads. In the fall, I had included something for every woman: fiction, non-fiction, laugh-out-loud funny, witty, heartwarming, and a heart-pounding thriller. For the summer though, I like to keep it a little lighter. We don’t have to be serious ALL THE TIME. 😉 Sometimes it’s okay for Calgon to take us away.
