Spring Break Insights

On my 8-day spring break holiday, I have spent so much of it listening to podcasts. It’s funny, when I feel inspired, I listen to podcasts. When I feel uninspired, I listen to MORE podcasts. My favorite is listening to business shows. That might sound weird to you, but I have after all, started 3 businesses and sold one.

This morning on my meditative walk by the ocean, I wanted to share with you a few insights as to my learnings this week in podcast life:

1. “Success is sequential not simultaneous. We think that if we do everything all at once, success will pour down on us.” We have to be in it for the long-haul. We have to do small things, day after day, to manifest our goals.

2. I realize there has been this disconnect in me that has brewed for years. I love yoga and meditation and spirituality and being alone, and I also love business and hustling and being creative and talking to lots of people. They often feel like oil and water. And if you too are multi-passionate, you know that we don’t always know how to piece it all together sometimes. The key I’ve learned it to welcome it, not to fight it. To embrace the weirdness or confusion you sometimes feel.

3. “Think about your life like this. You have a full tank of gas that you replenish every night, and if you don’t sleep well or take care of yourself, well you’re not even starting your day with a full tank. By the end of the day, you’re out of fuel — so how are you going to spend your day? One could argue to therefore choose one thing to focus on, and not spread yourself too thin. If you could pick ONE thing next year, what would you choose to focus your time on? If you’re doing 5 things, you’ll have to divvy up the tank with those. It might not be wise to do everything now, and rather space things out over a few years.“ I thought that was smart.

If you’re feeling uninspired, may I suggest going for a walk, putting on your headphones and diving into some easy listening. Namaste. (Which means, the light within me sees and honors the light within you, contrary to a recent article definition).
