Happy #MindfulMonday
Today’s research is care of the brilliant Tara Brach. I use it with my coaching clients AND yoga students frequently.
When you are experiencing a difficult moment, even a moment of anxiety, go through these steps in order as a kind of mindfulness exercise or meditation. Save this page so you can come back to it whenever you need it.
R.A.I.N:
R- Recognize what is happening (hey there worry, I see it’s you again);
A- Allow the experience to be there, just as it is (I’m not fighting you worry, I’m allowing you to be here right now with me without resistance);
I- Investigate with interest and care (do I have a stressful day ahead? A big presentation or deadline? AHA, that could be it);
N- Nurture with self-compassion (I’m going to love myself and be gentle with my feelings today).
I also use the N as Non-attachment, meaning I don’t have to stay attached to whatever is worrying me. It can occupy my mind today, but I can deal with it, release it and set it down— it doesn’t have to stay attached to me for the rest of my life.
It’s very helpful in difficult moments.
Sending you lots of happy thoughts today.
Would you try RAIN on an emotionally RAINY day?
