Tiny, Invisible Signs You Are On The Wrong Path @OWNTV #OWNShow

My third episode of the #OWNSHOW on OWN TV aired live at 7am this morning.

Oprah calls them the “tiny whispers” that we often ignore. These tiny whispers are also called your instincts or intuition. Today, I share why listening to that inner voice is so important to our happiness.

Additionally, some small telling signs that we should all pay attention to:

Signs that you feel agitated, untrusting, and a general feeling of malaise. Most people stay stuck and don’t respond to the small whispers because it’s a comfortable place to not have to commit and see something through. So many people ignore the tiny whispers because it isn’t easy to commit to changing something. Change can be a very scary thing.

Change involves a tremendous amount of risk, and puts us outside our comfort zone. But, I quote the title of James Moore’s book, “You Can Get Bitter Or Better.” It’s true, you make that choice about how you’re going to respond to change. You hold the power. And if you read this blog, we all know what happens when we sit on the fence.

Fifty Shades of Valentine’s Day

I saw it.

Last night.

REQUEST: Please consider today’s post the equivalent of a romance novel review. Like a kind of escapism. Let’t not make it anymore than that today, shall we?

But first, let’s recap a blog post I wrote on March 30th, 2012:

Ladies, this book is hot. REALLY hot. And I’m not embarrassed to say that I put down an incredible memoir to be taken away by Fifty Shades of Grey. Hell, I don’t even read fiction, but I had to see what all the hype was about. Well, I had NO idea what I was in for. I am halfway through, and I’m HOOKED. Smitten. I find myself sneaking moments to read whenever I can– hockey practice, carpool lineup. The buzz is everywhere. Conversation flowing amongst all the yummy mummies I meet. Women telling me their whole bodies “tingle” when they read this book. Or that they just wanna go home and f— their husbands. We discussed it at my girl’s dinner this week and we talked about it while I served hot lunch at school yesterday. But I will tell you, I have rediscovered my husband again because of this book. I kid you not. It has done wonders to our marriage. Let’s just say, my husband has never been so thrilled to see me reading.

Top 12 Must-Reads for Kids

Yesterday morning’s Global TV segment was on my Top 6 Must-Reads for Kids. Seeing that tv segments are merely snippets of information, I wanted to share my full list for all moms and dads, grandparents, aunts and uncle, and friends.

We are all trying to raise a reader.

Here goes:

I Don’t Want To Be “62 and Sizzling” Like Jane Seymour

By Guest Blogger Gloria Fallon

I really don’t.

When I’m 62 I want to be able to eat and do whatever the hell I want. And if that means I’m “pleasingly plump,” then good for me! When I’m 62, I don’t want to be doing stomach crunches, applying fake tanner and scrutinizing my ass and thighs before I go to the beach. I’m tired of doing these things now, so no way am I doing them when I’ve reached the respectable age of 60-somethings.

What is with this constant push for women to look young and thin?

#MotivationMonday: Practicing The 85% Rule @OWNTV #OWNShow

Happy Motivation Monday, ladies!

Episode 2 of my #OWNSHOW on OWN TV guest appearance aired live at 7am this morning. This week’s episode was more about sharing experiences from my coaching practice as well as my own life experiences, and the one strategy people can practice if they feel they have too much on their plate. This week is about how to make those crucial decisions…

I’ll give you a hint, but please watch below:

A great rule I like to follow as well as have my clients follow is The 85% Rule. Most of us are stressed and unhappy simply because we are overwhelmed: we take on too much. I practice the 85% rule – I make sure 85% of my commitments are NECESSARY COMMITMENTS. That means, I have started eliminating unnecessary commitments from my schedule. It’s practicing the art of saying “no” to the things that don’t BOOST YOUR HAPPINESS.

Career Wisdom From Your Favorite Celebs

When it comes to celebrities, we love to observe what they’re doing. From stalking their grocery shopping pics to obsessing over what they wearing and who they’re dating, we feed into it all. Who better than our favorite stars to motivate us with career advice? After all, they did make it to the tippy top, and I think it’s smart to learn from people who have mastered their craft.

So sit back, and let the inspiration pour over you!

Wordless Wednesday: Filters and Facades

I saw these on Instagram this week, and at first, they made me chuckle because they are in fact funny.

But then at second glance, they made me think of something more profound. Something deeper. Something more serious, and more real going on.

I also saw an ad that popped up for me yesterday on Facebook. An ad for a filter app called FACIE. How perfect for our narcissistic selfie obsessed society?
