5 Work-life Balance Survival Tips for Women

This week’s Global TV segment was for ALL the ladies. All of us could go the extra mile, and strive for more balance, more harmony, more calm in our lives. The root to everything happy and healthy around you, stems from you. You either radiate beauty and light, or you radiate negativity, bitterness and resentment. Working on yourself is the first step to getting off the fence and thriving in life.

Here is this week’s segment.

Kicking Suitcases

I just returned home from a brilliant women’s power luncheon at my Alma Mater, McGill University. It was a round table discussion with rotating mentors sharing advice on career, success and motherhood. Today I sat as an invited guest, and not as a mentor. I wanted to pass on some simple words of advice that arose during the luncheon that truly resonated.

And then one that didn’t.

And then get your feedback.

Do You Have “The Disease To Please?” Are You The YES Girl?

So, I have received three requests in the past 2 weeks to speak for free. I often do speak for free if it’s a cause I believe in, if it’s in Montreal, if I’m helping out a friend, yada yada yada. And I speak for free at different times because I simply love connecting with the women at these conferences and sharing my strategies and tactics. To walk through the audience at the end and hear the women’s issues and help get them on their feet right then and there, is a wonderful feeling. Yes, I love speaking.

Angelina Jolie: A Woman OFF The Fence

I just sat in my kitchen reading Angelina Jolie’s New York Times article published this morning disclosing her preventative double mastectomy. Not in a long time have I read such an eloquent, heartfelt and touching article.

If you have not read it, here it is.

To the critics who claim she was too radical to remove both her breasts, to the critics who say she should have kept it private, and to the critics who fault her for having the money for the surgery (it’s thousands of dollars in the USA), I say you couldn’t be more wrong.

10 Things I Can’t Live Without

Good morning and Happy Monday! I hope that those that celebrated Mother’s Day yesterday did so with an abundance of love. Mother’s Day is by far, my favorite day of the year. It’s like one giant connection to a tribe of like-minded exhausted people and friends. I love it. I was spoiled by my 3 men with tons of love, and some GREAT cards.

Getting Off The Fence

This morning, I spoke about our new global Movement for the first time on tv. As the Weekly Parenting Correspondent on Global TV, each week I tackle a new parenting topic. Today, I had the opportunity to speak about our newly launched global Get Off The Fence Movement. The exciting part in all of this, is that parents too have been taking the Get Off The Fence pledge – to cook healthier meals for their families, read more to their children, become more patient parents, etc… It’s been a gift to hear about all the different OFF THE FENCE pledges people have been taking since we launched. My most recent pledge is to try and power down by 9pm. I’ve been doing pretty well, actually.

Sleepless in Seattle

Hello Girls!

Seeing that I missed Wordless Wednesday (our site was down), I would love to blog where I have been this week, in PICTURE.

It all started Sunday morning. I kissed my three men goodbye at 5am and headed to the airport. I was going to Seattle Grey Mercy West. No, I wasn’t. I’ve just always wanted to say that (I’m a big Grey’s Anatomy fan:. 😉

An Earth Day Perspective: The Making of An Unlikely Environmentalist

Happy Earth Day Everyone! When I came across Women On The Fence Blog, I instantly became a loyal reader. I too, like most of you women, come here for a daily dose of hope and inspiration. So, when I reached out to Erica about possibly becoming a guest Blogger and then told her of my background, she excitedly asked me to write a special Blog post for Earth Day. As an environmentalist and big protector of the earth we live in, my goal is not to convert you to a full blown earthy in just one post. Rather, it’s to provide you with some facts, and get you MOVING in the right direction, perhaps as a more mindful and respectful person of our earth. So if today, you decide to unplug your coffee machine after you’re done brewing that cup, or recycle your cereal box, because something clicked in your brain, then I have done my job.
