A True Wordless Wednesday

Yes ladies, my first domesticated attempt in a while.

If you read my blog, you know I LOVE TO EAT, HATE TO COOK.

But I played “aproned mommy” and baked these Chanukah cookies.

My boys painted them.

Aren’t we SO Martha Stewart?

Flattery Gets You Everywhere

When was the last time you took the time to call your best friend, your aunt, your employee, your husband and tell them how much you appreciate them? Now I don’t mean to slip in an “I love you” at the end of a call after phoning them for another reason. I mean JUST to tell them how important they are in your life, to thank them, and tell them how great you think they are? I bet most of you cannot remember the last time. Yuck. Well that’s no good!

A Thanksgiving Reminder

When I awoke this morning, I wasn’t feeling connected to a particular topic for today. My thoughts were scattered. And then a Blackberry text message from a friend I haven’t spoken to in a while set off a light. I wished my husband’s friend a quick happy new year this morning and asked him how he was doing. His reply, “Happy New Year to you too. We are overdue to get together. Things are okay. They could definitely be better, but then again, I could be in Haiti.”

Laughing Through Life (Instead of Complaining)

We all have some form of stress in our lives. And whatever that stress may, whether it be the “real” kind… divorce, destruction, illness, death, or the “real-to-me” kind… I ate too much, my kids are driving me crazy, why do I have to help you with your homework, somebody shoot my mother-in-law… we all deal with it differently.

A Remembrance Day Message

Today is Remembrance Day, a memorial day observed where we honor and remember the sacrifices of members of the armed forces and civilians in times of war, specifically since the first World War. Remembrance Day is observed every November 11 to recall the offical end of World War I on November 11th, 1918 (Wikipedia).

The ‘On The Fence’ Question: Do you push to finish the hour and fulfill your commitment, or do you call it a day?

When is it pushing too hard, and when should you push to not raise a quitter?

I never know the right answer. Would love your spin on this! 🙂

Keepin’ It Light

I thought today I’d do a collaboration of ALL the “On The Fence” topics you have suggested over the past year.

It turns out there are MANY.

Here is the top 35! I didn’t hold back. I have kept track of EVERY “On the fence request” since Day 1. Please feel free to voice your faves for further expanded Blog posts.

Wordless Wednesday: Forgiveness

Tyler Perry is an American director with a net worth in the hundreds of millions. He is the only film maker to have 5 films open #1 at the box office in the last five years beating out the likes of Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorcese, James Cameron and Quentin Tarantino. His 8 films have grossed more than $418 million dollars, each film cost less than $10 million to make (CelebrityNetWorth.com).

He also came on The Oprah Show last week and opened up about being physically abused and sexually molested three times before the age of 10. After enduring constant violent beatings from his father, he was also molested at age 5 by a neighbor, then molested by a male nurse from his church, and finally by his friend’s mother– they had intercourse when he was 10.

Expectations and Disappointment in Life

I once read a saying that “Disappointments in life are almost always due to expectations. When you want something, you expect to have it, and if it doesn’t become a reality, you feel disappointed.” I guess that kinda makes sense. All of us over the course of our lives, at some point or another, have been let down or disappointed by someone or something. This week has been our week at our house.
