Pole Dancing, What Ifs and Living Life

To be honest, there is little to add here. Please watch this. I can’t think of a better #MotivationMonday. What I will say is, the older I get, the more like myself I feel. I’m not holding back. I just want to be… ME. I think at 40, you suddenly wake up to your life.

Wordless Wednesday: Fifty Shades of Sleep

So, this is my romantic honey last night during Fifty Shades of Grey’s second film in the trilogy, Fifty Shades Darker. He said, “They make you wait three years in between the first and second movie so you forget how bad it is!”

Oh c’mon.

For the record, I snapped this in the first five minutes. After that, he perked right up all movie long. 😉 It was quite a sub-par movie, but of course I LOVED every minute of Christian Grey it. There were parts during the movie where the audience started laughing– it was as if you were watching the SNL version of the movie! But nevertheless, it was a perfect Valentine’s Day evening activity. And that soundtrack, oh that soundtrack.

Embracing The Ride

From big dreams, great rewards may come, but there is none greater than the journey itself. For just as there is no reward without a journey, there is no journey without reward.

There was once a man for whom every day was the same. He awakened very early each morning and donned his suit and tie. He went to work, came home, ate dinner, and went to bed. Day in and day out, his life was unchanging. Each day he would tell himself, “When I’m 60, I will retire. Then, I’ll get that house by the sea.” And so, this is what he lived for. An entire life spent eyeing the prize.

Beyond Politics: Trump and Inauguration Day

So, this is not a political blog. I’m pretty sure you know that by now.

But, I do have something I really want to say, so here goes…

For some, today is a day to rejoice and celebrate. Change is upon us, and Donald Trump will become the 45th President of the United States of America for the next four to possibly eight years. For others, this is a very sad and scary day.

Embracing Your So-Called “Midlife Crisis”

As we age, most women eventually come to a wild crossroads, a confusing place where we must devise a new purpose, or formulate a new self-valuation. It’s a life phase of “fence sitting,” or, for those of us in our 40s and 50s, a time that’s — often disparagingly — referred to as the “midlife crisis.”

Sometimes this crisis is shy and easy, a tiny blip on the psychological radar. At other times, it roars in with a shattering bang and is dragged out slowly, kicking and screaming in handcuffs.

It may arrive with the empty nest, or earlier, with the first gray hairs. It might arrive because a divorce or death in the family leaves us seeking new companions. It might arrive because we’re unfortunately forced out of a job and need to forge new paths, or maybe because career-wise, we feel “stuck in a rut.”

Happy Holidays WomenOnTheFencers!

Do you hear that sound?

It’s the sound of the home stretch. The approach of the end of another year. Christmas, Hanukkah, Nat King Cole and reindeers, BOXING DAY, New Year’s Eve! It’s also the time where I close up the blogging shop for 2 weeks to spend time with my family. As you know, it’s my gift I give myself every July and December. I rest the mind, and come back rested and rejuvenated with fresh content in January.

5 Step Process to Designing Your Dreams For 2017

This is a time of year where many of us become overwhelmed.

Overwhelmed by what’s still left to accomplish and preparing for family or extra holiday centric obligations. I’m sure many of you, like me, are also thinking about what we want to accomplish next year.

My Handel coach gives me an excellent exercise each year that helps me focus, and get clear on what I want, and it never gets old. Simply put, it’s called dreaming.

6 Great Winter Reads for Women!

Fall and Winter is the perfect time to cozy up wth a big blanket, a warm cup of tea, and a great book.

Do You Let Others Define You?

Happy #GivingTuesday, Ladies! In case you didn’t know, #GivingTuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving. Now back to today’s post.

I was perusing through Instagram yesterday, and I stumbled upon something that really spoke to me. My friend and fellow Montreal working mom, Maddy K shared the quote above, Don’t Let The World Define You, and then underneath, this text:
