How To Get Off Your Butts and Achieve Your Dreams with Dr. Alex Avila

Too many women are on the fence today—not able to decide what they want to do with their lives. Juggling the demands of motherhood, wifehood (or being a single parent), as well as being a breadwinner and working on their personal development, there is a disconnect between what women really want and what they have. Are you a woman on the fence? If so, there is hope for you.

Here are some tips to help you get off the fence and get started with your life:

Spring Clean Your Social Media Presence!

Four to five minutes is not the most time to pack in tons of tips and strategies on TV, but I  sure did do my best to share that for you this morning.

Today, we’re spring cleaning our social media presence for all you personal brands and business out there!

In the above video, I share some spring cleaning tips, tricks, tactics, must-download apps for your phone, and even some info on my very own media conference happening next Wednesday in Montreal. Yes, Media Women Montreal is one week away, so grab your ticket

#ThoughtfulThursday: Even Here, I Am Growing

I saw this online, and it made me think. It is #ThoughtfulThursday after all, so here it is:

We share our highlights- the smiles, the kisses, the greenery, the laughter. We keep the darkness to ourselves.

When we’re in a dark place, we retreat, we isolate, we hang alone. It’s not the right way, but it’s a way familiar to many who are going through a hard time.

Know that even here, you are growing.

During hard times, I am my most creative, my most open, my most resourceful, my most STRONG. Hard times give you your biggest growth spurt.

Be Picky

As we kick off a new week and a new month, I would like share what I posted on Instagram yesterday for #SelfCareSunday. It actually serves as a good #MindfulMonday reminder too about being mindful with whom you allow into your inner circle and personal space.

It went like this…

Spring Clean Your Life!

Whenever March rolls around (my hubby’s birthday), I always know it’s time for me to take stock of my life. It’s the time I start sweeping out the cobwebs; literally and figuratively. Winter’s snow starts to melt away, and all the things we’ve been ignoring in our lives, start to present themselves again. Aaah, I forgot about you! Spring is a great time to deal with these things head-on. And that’s not a bad thing– spring is about rebirth, renewal, regeneration.

If you take a look at my social media feed, it’s been covered lately with spring inspiration. I have been aching for spring.

So today, in honor of the first day of spring, and also in honor of International Day of Happiness, a SPRING CLEAN YOUR LIFE blog post and tv segment! Today, we are spring cleaning your HOME, your relationships, your FINANCES, your MIND, and your BODY! There’s more to spring cleaning than just cleaning out your basement and closets.  You should be approaching your spring cleaning as an emotional cleanse, just as much as a physical cleanse.

We’ve Got Self Care Wrong

We talk a lot about self-care– it’s a very 2019 word. I talk a lot about self-care as a Certified Life Coach, Certified Yoga Instructor, and Parenting/Lifestyle Correspondent on TV. When we think of self-care, we often think of hot baths, or massages, or this picture I posted yesterday on social media – I shared it in my instagram story.

Self-care for me two days ago was the gift to myself of $8.00 tulips I put in my kitchen window sill to look at while I’m doing the dishes or sipping my coffee, to help me channel spring and radiate sunshine.

Our Montreal winters are rough, I tell ya, people.

And I realized that even in my yoga class, when I have my yogis on the mat, I often say to them as they are lying calmly on their backs in sivasana at the end of class, I invite them to channel the good vibes and keep them going after class— a nice hot bath, a warm cup of tea, a nice book, a show on tv that makes them laugh. Something just for them that is pleasurable to end off their evening. That they cannot give form an empty cup.

But here’s the thing: self-care isn’t limited or limiting.

The Erica Diamond Podcast Is Coming…

I didn’t know when the right time was to announce this. So why not today? I was an early adopter of social media, one of the earliest mommy bloggers, I would have liked to have gotten in earlier on the podcasting front, but I wasn’t ready.

2019 is the year that I said I would plan a conference and start a podcast.

I’ve gotta be honest, I cannot wait. I love listening to podcasts and I love interviewing cool people, and marrying those two loves is really exciting for me.

The Erica Diamond Podcast will be coming end of spring, early summer. If you have any requests as to who should be on the show, write their name in a comment below!

The Dark Side of Fame and The Super Bowl

Guys, I really wanna discuss this. This is the dark side of social media/fame and what I find the disappointing side to social media.

I read headlines this morning like, “Adam Levine and Maroon 5 performance seen as boring and safe,” and “Fans are destroying Maroon 5 for their halftime Super Bowl performance,” and “Maroon 5 out of 10.”

I guess when you take the world’s largest stage, you subject yourself to the good, the bad and the ugly. I get that. I just always feel like the critics are given too much power. The critics can remain nameless and faceless with the power to tear away at someone else’s self esteem, without even leaving the comforts of their own room.

Snow Day, In The News and A Salary for Stay-At-Home Moms

We awoke to a snow day… each boy for their respective schools. Man, can you spell H A P P I N E S S? Yup, they were pretty darn happy. I, on the other hand, shuffled my day around and am working from home. I also just baked a banana bread for the kids who came here to hang. I surprisingly didn’t mess this one up.

Note the last cake-baking episode below. I baked a vanilla cake – OUT OF A BOX and it somehow came out like this. Who f’s up a Duncan Hines vanilla box cake? I try, lord knows I try! I am just not handy in the kitchen. I pulled it out of the oven after 36 minutes (what the recipe called for),  and the inside WAS LIQUID. Sheer soupy liquid. I followed the recipe, and still THIS UGLY THING.

It’s time to work smarter not harder, end procrastination and own your day… every day!
